By Kyle Davis, CRCM, CAMS

FinCEN is accepting comments on its proposed updates and revisions to data fields on Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs). The Federal Register states the changes do not impose any new regulatory requirements or changes to the requirements related to suspicious activity reporting.  The changes to data fields will affect all filers of SARs under the BSA.

Comments are welcome and must be received on or before April 3, 2017.  Written comments should be submitted to Policy Division, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, Department of the Treasury, P.O. Box 39, Vienna, Virginia 22183, ‘‘Attention: PRA Comments—2016 SAR Database.’’ Comments also may be submitted by electronic mail to the following Internet address: [email protected], with the caption, ‘‘Attention: 2016 SAR Database’’ in the body of the text.  Please submit by one method only.

See here to review the Federal Register for specific proposed changes to the data fields.
